One Health Approaches to Control Infectious Diseases

The Veterinary Medicine Breakout Session of the 28th HU-SNU Joint Symposium, held under the theme “One Health Approaches to Control Infectious Diseases,” brings together leading researchers from Hokkaido University and Seoul National University. Scheduled for November 5–6, the program includes a series of expert presentations addressing avian and canine influenza, interdisciplinary diagnostics, and innovative vaccine technologies. Highlights include national strategies for avian influenza control, the One Health initiatives at Hokkaido University, and the HOT-WIRE team’s response to wildlife disease incidents. The session also explores nanoengineered diagnostic systems and the integration of clinical laboratory medicine with education and research. Moderated by professors from both institutions, the symposium fosters active dialogue through Q&A sessions and general discussions. Participants will also visit the International Institute for Zoonosis Control (IIZC), enhancing collaborative understanding of zoonotic disease management. The program concludes with a strategic planning discussion for future joint activities leading up to the 2026 symposium. This breakout session serves as a vital platform for advancing One Health research, strengthening academic partnerships, and promoting interdisciplinary approaches to infectious disease control across borders.
