Towards Next-Generation Thermal-Fluid and Energy Engineering

Hokkaido University (Division of Mechanical and Space Engineering) and Seoul National University (Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering) are engaged in a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting advanced academic exchange and research cooperation. The two institutions share expertise in four core fields: aerospace engineering, energy technology (particularly thermal-fluid sciences), biomedical engineering (human–machine systems), and advanced materials science (mechanics of materials). This partnership seeks to strengthen mutual understanding through regular breakout session, research collaboration, and student exchange programs. For the current fiscal year, the focus will be on the thermal-fluid and energy systems field, a domain in which both institutions are actively contributing to technological innovation. Recent efforts include the development of fuel cells and fluid machinery for hydrogen utilization and CO₂ emission reduction, addressing global energy and environmental challenges.
